In addition to a smoke detector on each floor, there must be a smoke detector located either within rooms where children nap, or in adjoining rooms. In the case of rooms used for napping or sleeping which have doors, a smoke detector is required inside that room.

Play equipment must be in good repair, and be placed in a safe location.

Children must not watch television or other electronic visual media during meals.

When care is provided for children under the age of two years, there must be at least one caregiver present for every two children under the age of two years in attendance.

Each group family day care home shall require visitors to the home to: sign in upon entry to the premises;

The program must keep documentation of immunizations the child has received to date, in accordance with New York State Public Health Law.

Caregivers and volunteers must ensure that children thoroughly wash their hands or assist children with thoroughly washing their hands with soap and running water when they are dirty, after toileting, before and after food handling or eating, after handling pets or other animals, after contact with any bodily secretion or fluid, and after coming in from outdoors.

The program must obtain a written statement, from the parent of each infant in care, setting forth the breast milk, formula and feeding schedule instructions for the infant and must be updated as changes are made.

If more than one child in the program is receiving breast milk, infant formula or other individualized food items, all containers or bottles must be clearly marked with the child's first and last name.

The program must maintain on file at the group family day care home, available for inspection the name, address, gender, and date of birth of each child and each child's parents names, addresses, telephone numbers and place(s) at which parents or other persons responsible for the child can be reached in case of an emergency;
