Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 08/15/2025. The on-site inspection began at 9:15 am and ended at 1:00 pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 93 children present and 17 staff. The inspector reviewed 10 children?s records, 7 staff records and 4 applicant records.

The inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-260-A
The center shall provide, to the licensing representative, an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction.

The fire inspection was 5 months past due.
Plan of Correction: Called and requested during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

There was an unlocked cabinet, containing various cleaning materials, in Classroom 8.
Plan of Correction: Will make sure cabinets are locked.

REPEAT VIOLATION

In areas used by children of preschool age or younger, electrical outlets shall have protective covers.

The electrical outlets in Restroom 1 were uncovered; the restroom is used by children of preschool age.
Plan of Correction: Will cover the outlet today.

REPEAT VIOLATION

Staff shall wash their hands with soap and running water before a diaper change and before feeding a child.

Staff 8 and Staff 9 did not wash their hands before changing a diaper. Applicant 4 did not wash their hands before feeding a child.
