Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 3/30/21 and concluded on 4/1/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 57 children present and 10 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children's records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law in the areas of administration and background checks. Violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Based on record review and interview, the center did not ensure that all staff have a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.

Evidence:
1. Staff 1 has a date of employment of 10/22/20. There is no documentation of a central registry finding for staff 1.
2. The center director confirmed that the record for staff 1 does not contain the results of the central registry search.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: A central registry search requested was sent off for staff 1 upon hire; however, the results have not been received. The center director contacted OBI in December 2020 to inquire about the results but there has been no follow-up since that time. A new search request will be mailed off for staff 1 and the results will be placed in staff 1's record.
