Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on May 15, 2023 from approximately 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm. There were 48 children in attendance and a total of 9 staff present. 5 staff records and 5 children?s records were viewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, bathrooms, and the playground. The children were observed eating snack and playing outside while the licensing inspector was on-site.

The most recent health inspection was conducted on 06/17/22. The most recent fire inspection was conducted on 8/25/22. Evacuation drills were conducted monthly with the most recent on 05/11//23.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Standard 8VAC20-780-160-A
Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that each staff member submit documentation of negative tuberculosis screening within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment. Evidence: 1) The record for staff #2, date of employment 2/28/23, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 09/09/22.
2) The record for staff #3, date of employment 02/28/23, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 09/09/23.
Plan of Correction: Per the center "the two staff that needed TB screenings that are more recent will have those rescreened."
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that all staff complete the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment. Evidence: The record for staff #3, date of employment 06/01/2022, did not contain documentation of the VDOE course completion.
Plan of Correction: Per the center "the staff member is working on it currently and will have it done by the date listed."
