Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. In the school-age room there was an electric cord dangling form the television that was mounted to the wall, posing an entanglement hazard.
Plan of Correction: The cord will be secured to the wall to ensure it does not pose a tripping hazard.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. The school age cabinet was unlocked and contained 2 disinfectant sprays, 1 sanitizing spray and 1 multipurpose cleaner.
Plan of Correction: The cabinet was locked during the inspection and the director spoke directly to school-age staff about keeping chemicals locked.

Cleaning and sanitizing materials shall not be located above food and shall be stored in areas physically separate from food. In the school-age cabinet, cleaning products were stored in the same cabinet as snacks for the children.
Plan of Correction: The director removed all snacks from the cabinet during the inspection and spoke directly to school-age staff about keeping food and chemicals separate.

Medications, or other harmful agents shall not be stored in areas, purses or pockets that are accessible to children. An over-the-counter medication was stored in an unlocked cabinet in the school-age children, accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The medication was removed during the inspector. The staff said that it was used for a scoence experiment.
