Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-245-J
Based on staff interview, record reviews and observations, children with prescribed emergency medication were not in care of staff with the medication administration required.
Evidence:
1. Child # 1 and Child # 2, both have prescribed emergency medication on site.
2. Staff # 1, Staff # 2 and Staff # 3 have the Medication Administration Training (MAT), but their certification does not include the training required for the administration of Child # 1 and Child # 2?s emergency medication.
3. In addition to Child # 1 and child 2?s written authorization form from the physician, Staff # 1 verbally confirmed that their medication was considered to be an emergency medication.
Plan of Correction: Director of operations will coordinate with the certified MAT instructor to enroll staff in the newly added MAT Solu-Cortef medication administration certification.
