Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. There were 45 children in care being supervised by 7 staff. The children were observed participating in story-time activities, eating lunch, and resting. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and four staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-510-E
Based on review of medication it was determined that not all procedures regarding medication were followed. Evidence: The emergency medication for child A had an expiration date of 01/24/2024.
Plan of Correction: Medication was given to parent/removed from center on 3/7/24.
Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on review of attendance records it was determined that staff did not always document the arrival and departure of each child as it occurs. Evidence: 1.) There were thirteen children observed in the two year old classroom, however there 11 children marked present on the attendance record. 2.) There were ten children observed in the three year old classroom however, there were eight children marked present on the attendance record.
Plan of Correction: Attendance records were corrected immediately and teachers were retrained on 3/7/24 on proper attendance documentation.
