8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 10/03/2022 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. A total of 56 children were present with 6 caregivers. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, and emergency supplies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in group play, puzzles, gross motor play indoors, and napping. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
