Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/26/21 and concluded on 6/1/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 54 children present and 11 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for the violation cited and return to me by close of business on 6/7/21. Plans of correction should include steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard, and measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@dss.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations

1
Standard 22VAC40-185-240-D-5
Based on review of documentation, the center did not ensure that there is always at least one staff member on duty who has obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation of children. Evidence: The center has one staff member with documentation of Daily Health Observation training but the staff member is not on site all hours of operation.
Plan of Correction: I am scheduling for a nurse to come out and train all of the staff.
