A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the licensing inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this SHSI. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
All staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
The record for Staff #2 did not contain documentation that an in-person competency demonstration was included in the staff?s CPR training.
Plan of Correction: All staff will have in-person CPR training within 90 days of employment. Staff #2 will take the CPR/First aid class on 11/12.

Staff who work directly with children shall annually attend at least 16 hours of training and staff development activities, to include the department?s health and safety update course.
The record for Staff #1 (program director) was missing documentation that the department?s health and safety update course was completed for 2023.
Plan of Correction: Management will make sure all training hours are up to date and are within state requirements.
