Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on 11/01/2023. A tour of the facility was conducted, in addition to a record review and interviews with staff. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 6 staff records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas of center was maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
In the middle "boys" bathroom there was peeling paint and a floor border separated from the wall behind the toilet and in reach of children.
Plan of Correction: A work order has been placed and the director will follow-up with maintenance to ensure the repair is completed.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
The supply closet in the preschool/school age side of the building was unlocked. The closet contained 5 spray bottles of various cleaning chemicals.
Plan of Correction: The lock was discovered to be broken. A work order will be placed today and the chemicals will be moved to a locked place until it is repaired and can be locked.
