Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 5/19/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 45 children and 11 staff present. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. A virtual inspection was also conducted to assess staffing, indoor and outdoor space used for the children, and staff to children interactions. Children were observed during virtual learning, playing outdoors, and infants were observed sleeping in cribs. Medications and related forms, additional center documents, and accident reports were also reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Based on record review, the center did not obtain results of an out of state sex offender search for an employee before the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1 was hired on 12/6/20. Staff # 1's record indicated her residence in Maryland within the last 5 years.
2. The center did not complete a sex offender search for Staff # 1 for Maryland.
Plan of Correction: The search was completed on 5/20/21 and filed.
