Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 08/13/2024 as a part of licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 2:20pm and ended at 3:45pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 85 children present and 18 staff. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records. This inspection included a document review, tour of facility, interviews, observations and measurements. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation the center did not ensure all requirements for handwashing were met.
Evidence:
A staff in the 2 year-old room was observed completing a diaper change. Staff did not wash the hands of the child after the diaper change, nor did she wash her own. The staff had the same pair of gloves on as she proceeded to change another child's diaper.
Plan of Correction: The director will retrain all staff who change diapers on how to properly change a diaper, and wash hands. Director will monitor for compliance.

Based on observation the center did not ensure staff sat with children during meals.
Evidence:
Afternoon snack was observed in the preschool room. Staff were not seated with the children during the meal.
Plan of Correction: The director plans to address this during the next staff meeting. Director will monitor for compliance.
