Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/23/2023. There were 41 children, ages 5 years- 12 years, 1 volunteer and 5 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies, nutrition and background checks. The children were observed in snack-time, self-directed and outdoor time. A total of 5 children?s records, 1 volunteer record and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 4:00 pm and departed at 5:30 pm.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation noticed issued to the provider.

Based on observations and interviews with staff, the center failed to ensure that volunteers who work more than six hours per week shall receive training in the centers emergency policies and procedures within the first week of volunteering.
Evidence: The record for Volunteer 1 did not contain evidence of training in the centers emergency policies and procedures. The record for Volunteer 1 contains an application date of 08/05/2022. The volunteer was observed volunteering during the inspection. Staff 1 confirmed Volunteer 1 volunteers ?most days? and approximately 10 hours per week.
Plan of Correction: Volunteers will receive training.
