Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 07/25/2023. There were 42 children, ages 4 years- 12 years, and 5 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed in arrival, mealtime, outdoor time and self-directed activities. A total of 5 children?s records, 5 staff records, 6 agent applicant records were reviewed. The inspector discussed the following with the provider: sanitizing, immunization, supervision, and staff qualifications. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:00 am and departed at 11:00 am.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice to the provider.

Based on observations and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
A blue bucket, containing a water, soap, bleach solution, was located on a shelf close to the windows in the cafeteria and was accessible to children. Staff 1 confirmed the contents of the blue bucket. Children were observed in the area during the inspection.
Plan of Correction: Staff will remove mixture and keep chemicals locked.
