Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on March 7, 2023 from 9:10 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. There were 57 children present, ranging in ages from 17 months to five years old with 12 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and six staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on review of records and interview, the center failed to implement a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence:
1. Review of the evacuation drill log revealed that there was no evacuation drill conducted in July of 2022, October of 2022 and November of 2022.
2. Staff #10 confirmed that the evacuation drills were not conducted.
Plan of Correction: For those three months, I had a shelter in place drill two times and the third time I had a lockdown drill. I will make sure that I do fire drills every month in addition to the shelter in place and lockdown drills.
