Violations
1the parent when administering medication.
Evidence:
1. Documentation confirmed that Zyrtec had been administered to child #7 on 5/11/2023, in response to a suspected allergic reaction as prescribed in the instructions on the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan in the child?s file. Although the center called the parent before administering the Zyrtec, there was no written parent permission on file authorizing the center to administer Zyrtec for Child #7.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that there was no written parent permission on file to administer Zyrtec for Child #7.
On that day, the administrator, knowing the child had the Emergency Care Plan on file handled the problem by calling the parent, getting verbal permission to give Zyrtec which is used to prevent an emergency.
