Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on February 16, 2023 from approximately 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm. There were 20 children in attendance and a total of 8 staff present. 2 staff records and 3 children?s records were viewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, bathrooms, and the playground. The children were observed playing games, playing outside, and doing homework, while the licensing inspector was on-site.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Please complete the plan of correction and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today, 02/28/2023. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measure(s).

Based on documentation review and interview, the center failed to document that a monthly practice evacuation drill occurred. Evidence: The documentation of emergency evacuation drills did not have any drills documented during the months of October, November, December 2022 or January 2023. When interviewed, the Director acknowledged that the drills were not documented.
Plan of Correction: Per the center "we will make sure all drills are done correctly and timely."
Standard 8VAC20-780-70
Based on records review, the center failed to keep at the center the required staff records to include the name, address, and telephone number of a person to be notified in an emergency and any health problems that may interfere with fulfilling the job responsibilities. Evidence: The record for staff #2, date of employment 1/14/23, could not be located.
Plan of Correction: Per the center "we have fixed this and will make sure we follow our process."
