Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 09/20/2023 and concluded on 09/20/2023 from 12:35 PM to 1:40 PM. There were 50 children present, ranging in ages from two to five, with eight staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies. A total of five children?s records and the five staff?s records were reviewed for updates.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on interview, the center failed to ensure staff completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence:

1. The director advised staff 2's employment date was 8/15/22.
2. The director stated staff 2 has not completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course.
Plan of Correction: Staff 2 is currently working on the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course and will complete it by 10/20/23. In the future the director will ensure all new staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within the required 90 days.
