Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was completed on 08/28/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:40 AM and ended at 11:50 AM. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 70 children present and 13 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-210-A
Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that all program leaders had the required qualifications.

Evidence:

Staff # 1, 3, and 5 did not have verification of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Plan of Correction: The director will have all Program Leader bring in the necessary paperwork for verification.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all hazardous chemicals were locked.

Evidence:

1.Observed in the lower school building across from the 2-year-old classroom was a bathroom that had 12 unlocked hazardous chemicals. The cabinet was approximately 4 foot off the ground.
2.Observed 6 bottles of hazardous chemicals sitting around the office that were not locked.
3.Observed in the bathroom in upper school building were 10 hazardous chemicals that were unlocked. The cabinet?s locking mechanisms did not prevent entry.
Plan of Correction: Per the director, the chemicals will be locked and monitored.
