Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 9/21/2023 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm and staff records were reviewed on 9/27/2023 from 1:20 pm to 3:30 pm. There were 49 children in care, ages three years to 11 years, in three groups under the care of eight staff. The Licensing Inspector reviewed five children?s records, seven medications and associated records, four staff records, and other program records. The children were observed on the playground and doing homework. The LI and management had a discussion regarding medication administration and written parent/physician permission which must be obtained if they are going to administer it (510-B and 510-E-3).

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review, the center failed to obtain the results of an out-of-state child abuse and neglect registry check for a new staff person by the end of the 30th day of employment for staff who resided out of Virginia within the past five years.

EVIDENCE:
Staff 3 has a documented start date of 8/18/2023 and there are no results of the out-of-state Central Registry results in the record. The Sword Disclosure signed by Staff 3 on 8/16/2023 shows this person lived outside of Virginia within the past five years.
