Inspector Notes

A subsidy inspection was conducted on 6/13/22. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on a review of six staff records, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that all staff have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.

Evidence:
1. The record for staff #2 did not contain documentation of a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
2. Staff #3 (Program Director) confirmed that she was unable to provide documentation during the inspection to demonstrate staff #2 had a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: All staff complete CPR/first aid according to the ages of children in care. All new staff will complete appropriate training that includes an in-person competency demonstration within 90 days of employment.
