Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was completed on August 28, 2023. Inspector arrived at 9:30am and departed at approximately 12:40pm. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the program and was reviewed with the Director at the exit interview.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that within 90 days of the date of employment that staff have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Evidence:
1. Three of the five staff records reviewed did not have a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and was present at the center working with children.
a. Staff #2 (date of hire 5/08/2023) did not have a CPR certification.
b. Staff #3 (date of hire 5/04/2023) did not have CPR certification.
c. Staff #5 (date of hire 4/03/2023) did not have CPR certification.
3. Staff #1 confirmed Staff #2 , Staff #3 and Staff #5 do not have a current CPR certification and are working with children at the center.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff members that require CPR will be signed up to a class as soon as available. The certificate will be placed in the staff member's record.
