Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 and concluded on Friday, May 7, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 26 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Based on interview with staff, the center did not ensure when food is provided a menu of foods served in 1 week shall be dated posted or given to parents.

Evidence: Interview with staff confirmed the children in care are served food while at the program and the menu for this week was not posted or given to parents for review during this inspection.
Plan of Correction: When serving food the menu will be posted on parents info board weekly.
Standard 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Based on review of staff record and interview with staff, the center did not ensure to obtain a central registry finding within 30 days of employment or volunteer service.

Evidence: In Staff#1's record (date of hire: 5/30/09), there was no central registry findings found. Interview with staff confirmed there was no current central registry findings available for review during this inspection.
Plan of Correction: I will work directly with HR department to ensure that all needed documents are completed before start date.

Based on review of staff records and interview, the center did not ensure to submit fingerprinting for a determination letter by Office of Background investigation (OBI) as required for all staff.

Evidence: In Staff#2's record (date of hire: 05/22/19), there was no OBI determination letter results found for review. Interview with staff confirmed the results for this background check was not available for review during this inspection.
Plan of Correction: I will work directly with HR department so that fingerprints are completed during onboarding.
