22.1 EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION

Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and an on-site tour of the program.

A renewal inspection was initiated on February 25, 2022 and concluded on February 28, 2022. There were 35 children present, ranging in ages from Infants to Preschool, with 11 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and four staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that that center was equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector.

Evidence:
The center did not have a carbon monoxide detector. The administrator stated they had not installed a carbon monoxide detector.

Based on observation, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
1. There were several containers of hazardous substances used for cleaning located in a cabinet next to the diaper changing area in the Infant classroom accessible to children.
2. There were several containers of hazardous substances used for cleaning located in the Two?s bathroom accessible to children.
3. Staff confirmed there were hazardous substances present that were not kept in a locked place.
