Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at 12:10pm. There were 80 children and 12 direct-care staff present. Ratios and supervision were in compliance at the time of the inspection. Children were observed eating lunch, washing hands, and taking naps. Lunch served: fish sticks, green beans, apples, rolls, ketchup, and milk. The facility was found to be clean, classrooms were well supplied with toys and equipment for the children, and art work made by the children on display. Recordkeeping was organized. Information gathered during the inspection determined there was an area of non-compliance with applicable standards or laws reviewed. Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-330-B
Based on observations made, it was determined that there was insufficient resilient surfacing under playground equipment and in fall zones. Evidence: The wood mulch was nearly depleted and in some areas the mulch was scattered and the dirt/sand mix underneath was exposed.
Plan of Correction: The Director reported that the wood mulch will be replenished before the summer program begins. Efforts to rake existing mulch into the fall zones will continue until new mulch is delivered.
