An unannounced Virginia 22.1-289.031 Code Compliance monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 2:45 p.m. There were 51 children in care ranging in age from three to four years of age under the care and supervision of 8 staff. Children were observed during nap time. Center documents and eight staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of documentation, the center did not describe required operations in a written statement provided to the parents/guardians of children in the center and available to the general public. Evidence: There was no written statement regarding enrollment capacity and public liability insurance.

Based on review of documentation, the center did not obtain out of state background checks for all staff that resided outside of the state of Virginia in the previous five years as required. Evidence: Staff #3 indicated out of state residence in Florida, Pennsylvania and New York in the previous five years. There was no documentation of a Florida central registry and sex offender background check, no documentation of a Pennsylvania out of state criminal history, central registry and sex offender background check and no documentation of a New York central registry and sex offender background check within 30 days of employment.
