Inspector Notes

Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 10:45am-12:00pm. There were 3 classrooms observed with a total of 28 children with 4 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing outside on the playground, listening to a story and other organized activities. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill log and emergency materials were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were not maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.

Evidence:
1. The wooden bench located outside on the playground had wood that was splintering.
2. There was peeling paint observed under the window in the Preschool 3 classroom.
Plan of Correction: The peeling paint was covered the same day as the inspection and the bench will be covered or wood replaced in one week or sooner.

Based on a review of records, the center did not practice a monthly evacuation drill.

Evidence:
1. There was no documentation of a monthly evacuation drill practiced in the month of March 2023.
Plan of Correction: We will conduct a monthly evacuation drill each month moving forward.
