Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place on December 12, 2023 between the hours of approximately 10:30 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. There was 1 classroom observed with a total of 16 children with 3 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing with playdough, manipulatives and other organized activities. Positive interaction between staff and children were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, emergency drill log was conducted during this inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on record review and staff interview, the center failed to ensure that 1 out of 2 staff completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence:
1. Staff #2 (start date: 07/01/2023) did not have documentation of a completed Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course on file.
2. Staff #3 confirmed that Staff #2 has not finished the course.
