Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 9/2/21. During the inspection there were 61 children ages five years old through ten years old in care with 8 staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classrooms, swimming and leaving for a field trip[. Records were reviewed for four children and four staff. There was no medication at the facility. Emergency procedures, and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed during the exit interview.

Based on a review of the emergency log and interview, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that the center shall implement a monthly practice evacuation drill and a a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year for the most likely to occur scenarios.

Evidence:
1. The center's emergency drill log did not show that a practice emergency evacuation drill was completed during the months of June 2021, July 2021 and August 2021.
2. Staff #5 reviewed the emergency drill record and confirmed that a practice emergency evacuation drill was not completed during the months of June 2021, July 2021 and August 2021.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: Going forward we will insure that a practice emergency evacuation drill was completed each month.
