Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring visit and facility tour was conducted on 8/12/2022. At the time of inspectors' arrival there were 56 preschool to school aged children in care with 5 staff members and 2 administrators. Children were observed interacting with staff, engaging in educational activities, lunch and hand washing. A sample of 5 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Injury reports and medications were also reviewed. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the director in an exit meeting at the conclusion of this inspection.

Based on observation and interview it was determined the center did not ensure all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides were be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. The closet where all cleaning chemicals are stored was unlocked during this inspection.
2. Assistant Director confirmed this closet was unlocked during this inspection.
Plan of Correction: Closet was locked during inspection. Staff will be reminded about locking the closet door after each use.

Based on record review and interview it was determined the center did not practice an evacuation drill monthly.
Evidence:
1. There was no drill logged for the month of July 2022.
2. The Assistant Director confirmed a drill was not practiced in July.
Plan of Correction: Center will practice evacuation drills monthly.
