Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A complaint inspection was initiated on 5/20/2021 and concluded on 6/2/2021. A complaint was received by the department regarding allegations in the area of food service. The director was contacted by telephone to conduct the investigation. The investigation included review of documentation, virtual observation and staff interviews.

The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the allegation of non-compliance with regulations, and a violation was issued.

Based upon observation and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that when food is brought from home, the food container is clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner.
Evidence:
1. Interviews with staff 1 and staff 2 revealed that on May 5, 2021, there was a lunch box for child 1 that was not labeled or dated.
2. Staff 2 stated that she was unaware of a lunch box brought to the facility for child 1 as the lunch box was not checked by staff as required.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
At the time of drop-off, the lunch box/bag for each child will be checked to ensure adequate nutrition and to ensure the the lunch is labeled with the child's name and date. This procedure will be reviewed with each staff person.
