A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on July 1, 2024. The inspector arrived at 9:15 AM and departed at 12:30 PM. There were 30 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to school age, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program and discussed with the program director during the exit interview.
Violations
5Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that areas, inside and outside, are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Evidence:
1. There was an active water leak dripping from the ceiling in the classroom off of the back hallway. Numerous stained ceiling tiles show evidence of other roof leaks.
2. The gutters on the back of the building are full of leaf and plant litter. Rain water during the inspection was overflowing from the gutter into gullies created from the overflow.
Evidence:
1. Two school-aged children were sent back into the building from the morning van. The two children grabbed their morning snack and directly sat down and began eating without washing their hands.
2. A school aged child was observed being sent to the bathroom from the front school age classroom. The child did no wash his hands after using the bathroom and was not prodded by staff to wash his hands.
Evidence:
There was an albuterol inhaler stored for potential administration to child 5. The medicine expired in April 2024.
Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that staff sit with the children when they are eating.
Evidence:
The two staff on duty with the children during morning snack time did not sit with the children while they are.
Evidence:
Loading children into the van for transport to summer school was observed. There were four children aged 7 years and younger who were transported without the use of booster seats.
