During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on March 4, 2025, The inspection began at 8:15 AM and ended at 11:30 AM. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 33 children present and 2 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 3 staff records on-site. This inspection included:

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

In inside areas occupied by children, the temperature shall be maintained no lower than 68?F. The air temperature in the lunch room where children ate morning snack was measured at 63 degrees F. The air temperature in both hallway bathrooms was measured at 57degrees F.

The staff-to-children ratios required whenever two year old children are in care is one staff to eight children. There were nine children from two years and older in care for 1/2 hour with one staff (4).

Repeat violation
Staff shall wash their hands with soap and running water before helping children with feeding or serving food or beverages. Staff 4 used a disposable wipe instead of soap and running water to clean her hands before assisting children with the morning snack.

Medication shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. There was an epi-pen in a box in an unlocked upper cabinet in the kitchen.

At least one staff in each classroom or area where children are present shall have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. Staff 1, who drove the children to school on the bus, does not have current CPR and first aid certification.

Repeat violation
The center shall ensure that during transportation of children Virginia state statutes about safety belts and child restraints are followed as required by 46.2-1095 through 46/2-1100 of the Code of Virginia, and stated maximum number of passengers in a given vehicle is not exceeded. There were three sets of two children buckled into one seat belt in the short bus during the morning transport of children to public school.
