Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 10/30/2023.There were 64 children present with 10 staff supervising and 3 administrators. The children were observed during outside play time, snack time, and teacher led activities. A total of 6 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:30 am and concluded at 11:30 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review and staff interview the center did not ensure The Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment.
Evidence: Staff confirmed that Staff #3 (date of hire 2/15/2023) had not completed the preservice training.

Standard 8VAC20-780-40-M
Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure the center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.
Evidence: The school age room had an allergy list hanging on the wall. The list was not kept confidential as staff confirmed that parents are allowed in the room.
