Inspector Notes

The following inspection took place between the hours of 10 am through 4 pm. Staff files were reviewed by a representative from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Education, Office of Child Care Health and Safety (Fairfax) and through the County of Loudoun, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services? main office located in Leesburg, Virginia. Information gathered during the inspection determined that there were (2) non-compliances with the applicable standards. These violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on review, 1 of 5 staff files indicated that verification that the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course was completed within 90 calendar days of employment was not available.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (06/06/2024), a certificate of completion for the Virginia Pre-Service Training (10-hour) was not available for Staff #5.
2. The start date for Staff #5 was listed as 08/17/2023.
Plan of Correction: Staff #5 completed this training on 11/20/23. The document was uploaded and sent to the inspector on 6/10/24.
Standard 8VAC20-780-70
Based on review, 4 of 5 staff files indicated that documentation of two or more references (as to character, reputation, competency, and checked prior to employment) were not available.

Evidence -
1. The following staff did not have at least 2 references on file: Staff #2, #3, #4, and #5.
2. All listed staff started after March 1, 1996.
Plan of Correction: The staff's references were completed prior to their start date (respectively, 7/10/23, 5/4/04, 7/10/23 and 7/3/23). These documents are kept at the center and shared with the inspector on 6/10/24.
