Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 05/03/2021 and concluded on 05/04/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 18 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not implement a practice evacuation drill monthly.

Evidence:
1. Documentation of emergency drills indicated an evacuation drill was not completed for the month of December 2020.
2. Staff acknowledged an evacuation drill was not practiced during the month of December 2020.
Plan of Correction: Moving forward, we will make sure a fire drill is practiced each month, even if the month is shortened due to holidays.

Based on record review, 1 of 2 children's records did not contain all required information.

Evidence:
The record for Child #1 did not contain the place of employment for one parent.
Plan of Correction: We will ask the parents to specify work related information on the forms.
