Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on February 1, 2023. There were 54 children present, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, and emergencies. The children were observed getting ready for dismissal. A total of 4 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on review of emergency procedures, the center did not review/update the emergency preparedness plan annually.
Evidence
The center did not have documentation of the emergency preparedness plan being reviewed/updated annually. The emergency preparedness plan was last updated 11/2017.
Plan of Correction: I will review and make any updates to date and sign and date it was reviewed. I will do this annually.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on review of emergency procedures, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill every month.
Evidence
The monthly practice evacuation drill log did not have documentation of a practice drill for the month of January 2023.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure to always practice and document a monthly practice drill.
Standard 8VAC20-780-70
Based on review of 4 staff records, one staff record does not contain all the required documentation.
Evidence
There is no record for staff #1. Documentation of their name, and address, and the name, address and telephone number of a person to be notified in an emergency was not available at the center for review.
Staff #1 did not have documentation available for review of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certifications.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure staff always has their information on file or has it with them if subbing at our center.
