Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 7/25/2022 and concluded on 7/25/2022. There were a total of 32 children with 9 staff members present. Children were observed engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff training records were reviewed.
Followed up on three injury reports which were received on 7/22/2022. The Center Supervisor stated that the staff met last week for a meeting about the recent injuries. Staff will monitor children more closely on the playground, tennis racquets are no longer allowed in the gym. Fire drills and medications were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on a review of medications, the center has not followed medication procedures for maintaining methods to prevent expired medications.
Evidence: Child #1's emergency medication expired 6/2022.
Plan of Correction: Staff will ask the parents to bring in medication that is not expired.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-N
Based on a review of medications, the center has not kept a record of medications given to a child to include the time the medication was administered.
Evidence: Child #2 has a prescription medication which says must be administered at 1:00 every day. The medication administration log was reviewed. Staff have not documented the time the medication is administered from July 5 through July 22, 2022.
Plan of Correction: Staff will document the time the medication is administered each day on the medication log.
