Inspector Notes

An unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place on 08/29/2022 between the hours of approximately 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. There were 2 classrooms observed with a total of 28 children with 4 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed reading, playing a card game, stacking cups, and eating snack. Positive interactions between staff and children were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant was conducted. Children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at tameika.king@doe.virginia.gov. Thank you for your cooperation during the inspection.

Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-780-40-M
Based on observation and staff interview, the center did not maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children?s allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions.

Evidence:
1. The center did not have a current written list of all children?s allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions posted
2. Staff #1 stated that they just need to type the list and post it.
Plan of Correction: I will post it by the end of the week.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on record review, the center did not obtain all information for children?s records.

Evidence: Child #1?s record indicates an allergy to tree nuts. The record for Child #1 did not include a written allergy care plan.
Plan of Correction: The child?s parents are working on getting the allergy care plan to us.
