Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 09/19/2022 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There were 58 children present, ranging in ages from 16 months to 6 years old, with 10 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies, and nutrition. A total of 6 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation and interview, the center failed to ensure that resilient surfacing complied with the minimum safety standards of 6 inches for rubber mulching.
Evidence
Observed on the playground, around the climbing structure was less than 1 inch of rubber mulch in the fall zone.
Staff #6 confirmed there was not 6 inches of rubber mulch around the climbing structure.
Plan of Correction: We are ordering mats that will cover the interior of the playground. The company will not give us a definite date when they will be delivered. So while we are waiting for them to arrive, we will continue to rake the mulch from the other areas of the playground, until the mats are installed.
