Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. All rooms inspected were in ratio during the inspection.
Children were observed washing hands, practicing for the holiday program, playing with a variety of toys in the rooms, transitioning to the outside playground and eating snack.
4 child and 4 staff records were reviewed. See Violation Notice for non-compliances cited today.
Emergency evacuation drills, 2 medications, playground mulch, bathroom supplies, first aid supplies and emergency supplies were all in compliance today.

Standard 8VAC20-780-160-A
Based on a review of records, staff records did not contain documentation of a negative Tuberculosis(TB) screening at employment and completed within the last 30 days.
Evidence:
2 of 4 staff records reviewed did not contain documentation of a negative TB screening in the allowable time frames.
1. Staff A's negative result was dated 10/27/23. Date of Hire (DOH):10/4/23 - not at time of employment.;
2. Staff B 's negative result was dated 6/20/23. DOH: 9/5/23. More than 30 days prior to employment.
Plan of Correction: Ensure all new employees do not exceed the 30 days prior and they complete it prior to start date (TB tine).
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on a review of records, one staff record did not contain documentation of completion of the Virginia Dept. of Education sponsored orientation course within 90 days of employment,
Evidence:
Staff D's record contained documentation of course completion on 11/9/23. (DOH: 2/7/22)
Plan of Correction: Make sure all new employees to include subs complete the 10 hours within 90 days of hire.
