Inspector Notes
A code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded on 2/7/2024. There were 13 children present with 2 staff supervising. Children were observed during classroom time and snack time. A total of 2 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 10 am and concluded at 10:30 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not ensure to obtain a fingerprint based national criminal record check prior to the first day of employment for each staff.
Evidence: The staff person in charge confirmed that the record for staff #2 did not contain documentation of a fingerprint check.

Based on record review and staff interview the center did not ensure to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: Staff #2 indicated on the sworn statement as to having lived outside of the state of Virginia within the last five years. The staff person in charge confirmed that the center had not obtained an out of state (Alaska) criminal record check and an out of state (Alaska & New Jersey) child abuse and neglect search.
