Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/4/2022 and concluded on 5/4/2022. There were a total of 87 children with 17 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, coloring, engaged in group activities and indoor play time. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 6 child records and 6 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on observation, a changing pad in the 2 year old classroom had visible tears.

Evidence: Changing pad was observed with tears in the waterproof cover.
Plan of Correction: Center has ordered a replacement changing pad.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place that prevents access by children in the three year old classroom.

Evidence: Corrective fluid labeled keep out of reach of children, was found in an unlocked drawer in reach of children.
Plan of Correction: Center has relocated the corrective fluid to a locked area.

Based on observation, purses were found in areas accessible to children in the two and four year old classrooms.

Evidence: Two purses were found within reach of children.
Plan of Correction: Staff moved purses out of the reach of children.
