Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on October 20, 2022 from approximately 9:45 am to 11:45 am. There were 73 children in attendance and a total of 14 staff present. 7 staff records and 7 children?s records were reviewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and the kitchen. The children were observed playing outside, participating in circle time, learning about pumpkins, fire, and the days of the week, as well as playing with playdough and practicing cutting, while the licensing inspector was on the premises.

The First Aid Kit had all components. The license, current inspection, and evacuation plan were posted and emergency numbers were posted.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today, 10/26/2022. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measure(s).

Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that staff submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening at the time of employment or 30 days prior to employment and prior to coming into contact with children. Evidence: 1) The record for staff #1, date of employment 7/13/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 6/1/22; the record for staff #5, date of employment 8/22/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 9/29/21; the record for staff # 6, date of employment 10/04/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated, 05/29/22;
2) The record for staff #2, date of employment 7/18/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 8/11/22; the record for staff #4, date of employment 7/8/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 7/14/22; the record for staff #7, date of employment 8/23/22, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 8/26/22.
Plan of Correction: Per the center "these employees all had tuberculosis screenings after the date of hire. This is a violation. Clover Hill Children's Center will not hire any employee without first getting proof of their completed negative tuberculosis screenings. We have already begun hiring and have requested this screening in the pre-hire process. If we do not have this screening the employee cannot work for the company until complete. Clover Hill Children's Center has put this into action since the new Director and Assistant Director started. Moving forward all staff members must have a completed tuberculosis screening before their first day of work."
