Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 08/31/2023 from 9:40 a.m. to 11:10 p.m. There were 31 children present, ranging in ages from three months to four years old with nine staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and nine staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that where playground equipment is provided, resilient surfacing complies with minimum safety standards.
Evidence:
1. On the toddler playground, the pea gravel measured two inches around the plastic climber.
2. On the preschool playground, the pea gravel measured less than one inch by the steps to the large climber, less than two inches by the blue slide and two inches by the small climber.
3. The pea gravel did not meet the minimum safety standard of six inches in depth.
Plan of Correction: A work order will be put in for redistribution as soon as possible.
