Inspector Notes

An unannounced code compliance inspection was initiated on 10/4/2022 and concluded on 10/4/2022 from 9:25 AM to 10:20 AM. There were 36 children present, ranging in ages from three to six, with five staff and three volunteers. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, procedures and medication. A total of three children?s records and five staff?s records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on observation and interview, the center failed to implement the center's procedure to ensure the center is free of obvious injury hazards.

Evidence:

1. The director stated the center's procedure regarding hazardous substances is when kept in the classroom they should be on top of the cabinets out of reach of children. Bleach and extra supplies are kept in the kitchen cabinets where children are not permitted.
2. In the boys and girls restroom, on the counter beside the sink was generic disinfectant spray and generic disinfectant wipes.
3. In the hallway on a low table was generic disinfectant spray.
4. In the 3's classroom on a low table was Clorox disinfectant wipes.
5. In the 4's classroom was a spray bottle of Method all purpose cleaner on a low shelf.
Plan of Correction: All hazardous substances will be moved to a location out of reach of children. All staff will be retrained on the center procedure.
