Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection were initiated on 04/02/2024 and concluded on 04/02/2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. There were 10 children present with 2 staff supervising ranging in age from 14 months to 4 years. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on record review and interview, the provider failed to ensure within the first 90 days of employment all caregivers completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education.

Evidence:

The record of staff 3 did not contain documentation of completing the Virginia Preservice Training. Staff 3's first date of employment was documented as 5/17/23.
Plan of Correction: Staff 3 will be required to complete the training as soon as possible.

Based on record review and interview, the center failed to ensure staff obtain, in addition to the annually attending at least 16 hours of training, the department's health and safety update course.

Evidence:

The staff 1 and staff 2 did not obtain the department's health and safety update course in 2022 or 2023.
Plan of Correction: Staff 1 and staff 2 completed the training on 4/8/24.
