Inspector Notes
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A complaint inspection was initiated on June 4, 2021 and concluded on June 9, 2021. A complaint was received by the department regarding allegations in the area of behavioral guidance. The director was contacted by telephone to conduct the investigation. The inspector emailed the director a list of documentation required to complete the investigation.
The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the allegation of non-compliance with standards or law and violations were issued.
Violations
1Evidence:
1. Interviews were conducted with staff confirming that staff #1 and staff #2 wrote notes about child's behavior and sent home to the parent. One of the three notes indicates that child #1 was in time out "all day". Documentation demonstrated that staff #2 had placed child #1 in time out "all day".
2. When time out is used, it shall be used sparingly and shall not exceed one minute for each year of the child's age.
