Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 4/28/2023. There were 57 children present with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 11:00 am and concluded at 1:20 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation, the licensee does not always ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
The licensing inspector observed spray bottles of sanitizing spray sitting out in the open and accessible to children in care in the following locations:
Studio A - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet.
Cycling Studio - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet.
Studio B - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet. and on a window sill at a height of about 5 feet.
The spray bottles contained a label warning "Keep out of reach of children" and additional warnings.
Plan of Correction: The Program Director stated that the bottles of cleaning solution would be removed and that she will discuss with the staff a procedure for ensuring that the bottles are placed in a secure location while children are utilizing the space and replaced again once the space is no longer being utilized by the program.
